Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
A river trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon is a life-changing experience. It's hard to explain, you have to experience it.
Life is different on the river with no cellphone, internet, or email. It's simple, and quiet – with only the sound of the river, and the ever-present Canyon Wren. From the rim, the scale is difficult to comprehend.
At river level you realize the Grand Canyon is an infinite number of canyons within canyons. Each side canyon opens up a new world to be explored, a new microcosm to be studied. Legendary names like Marble Canyon, Nankoweap, Little Colorado, Red Canyon, Crystal Rapid and Lava Falls.
And surprisingly, there is water, and lots of it – seeps, springs, waterfalls, and the river itself – the true heart of the canyon.
