Upper Amazon River, Peru, South AmericaFLOODED FORESTS OF THE UPPER AMAZON RIVER, PERUI spent 3-weeks aboard the
Delfin II with
Lindblad Expeditions -National Geographic, where we explored
blackwater tributaries and
oxbow lakes in the
Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, the largest protected area in Peru, and one of the most
pristine areas in all of the Amazon.
It was like a
jungle safari, out early before breakfast and then again late in the day. We encountered
river dolphins and
monkeys everyday, watched colorful birds including scarlet and
blue-and-yellow macaws, and visited local
villages.
Venturing out on forays by
skiff is a great way to travel. And a
pisco sour aboard the
Delfin II is the best way to end the day...
