SOUTH GEORGIA, ANTARCTICA
The sub-Antarctic Island of South Georgia is one of the world's great wildlife spectacles. The glaciated mountainous landscape is home to thousands of penguins, elephant seals, and fur seals. Small islands offshore are nesting sites for the largest seabird of all, the wandering albatross. The great explorer, Sir Earnest Shackleton, is buried in the whaler's graveyard at Grytviken.
